How are you? No…seriously, how are you? There has been so much going on since the pandemic ripped through our lives, that we don’t take the time to check in with ourselves. As a mommy of two, COVID left me managing remote learning for my toddler while trying to keep her younger sister from bothering her during her daily classes (silver lining: I burned a lot of calories!). Not to mention, I work full time. Although I didn’t have to wake up 5/6am in the morning so that we would all be ready in time for our daily hour trip, my physical rest was replaced with mental exhaustion.
Although I’m BIG on people taking time for themselves and talking to someone when they feel like they’re on overload, I do not take my advice. As a mommy, I find it hard tapping out of that superhero identity (I wear an S on my chest ALL day), so I have to remind myself all of the time that “it’s ok to relax”, “it’s ok to not be ok right now” and “it’s ok to share that you’re not ok with someone”. One of of our most powerful tools is our voice so I ask you:
How are you doing today?
How has it been for you during quarantine? How are you making it through?
Let each one, reach one, teach one.
