The use of technology has exploded within the last decades, so much that we use computers and our phones to do pretty much everything. I don’t know about y’all but I miss the days of going into a library and taking out a book. As a child I used to live for the Scholastic book fairs in the cafeteria every year (‘mommy can I get some money for some books, puhleeeeaseeee?”). I feel so old because I can remember having to go to the Brooklyn Public Library to so research for my college papers. I’m fortunate in that my daughter loves reading and so I’m able to indulge in purchasing boos every now and then. I (and she) gravitated to this book because it takes us on Lola’s weekly Tuesday trip to the library with her mother. It’s such a great idea for a parent and their child. I have one request-let’s bring books back. Not the audiobooks or Kindles, I’m talking about some good ol’ paperbacks and hardcovers; there’s really nothing like a good book.
If you’re in the New York area, you can check here for upcoming events at a local library and how to get a library card. If you’re not in the area, I encourage you to look up a library in your area.
